In 1972, a group of parents and teachers from the J.J Koehler School established the Dyberry Day Camp for disabled children in Wayne County. Over the years, hundreds of challenged persons have benefitted from the leisure time activities offered at the month camp, which runs during July. The operation of the camp is relatively simplistic. A typical day includes roll call and pledge to the flag, circle time, songs, crafts, physical activity, and swimming.

The camp and other Arc activities are primarily funded through a community solicitation and through the annual Bike-Hike, which is a spring event supported by the local schools. All money raised stays in Wayne County and is used for camp staffing, transportation and supplies and for advocacy and special community activities for older challenged persons.
